NEW BUSINESS: Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO
Background
The
Northwest Council has embraced affiliation with labor councils.
SPEEA
has members in California. There are around
120 SPEEA members living or working within the Los Angeles County Federation of
Labor district. http://www.launionaflcio.org
The
LA County Federation of Labor dues is $0.55/month/member.
SPEEA
Constitution
Association
is a joining of unions or groups for a common purpose.
An Association shall be determined by
either a Regional or SPEEA Council.
Northwest ByLaws
2.2.3.1 Labor
Councils
The Northwest
Regional Council shall determine any associations with local Labor Councils and
additional requirements will be defined in the Northwest Regional Policy. The
Northwest Council shall budget and fund future years.
The
SPEEA Organizational Planning Committee recommends approval and association
with the LA County Federation of Labor.
Motion
It is moved THAT THE NORTHWEST
COUNCIL APPROVES AN ASSOCIATION WITH THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY FEDERATION OF LABOR
AFL-CIO.
